Professional Development Plan

As an early childhood educator, it is essential to me to grow professionally, and the best way to do it is to establish and reach my goals. Here are three of my principal goals:

Goal 1: Learn strategies to help children with behavioral disorders.

Action Steps:

  • Research courses, workshops, webinars, and related conferences.
  • Get information from professionals that work in Renfrew.

Resources Needed:

  • Ask the agency if the Government funds any courses or workshops.
  • Family support with activities at home while I am attending the courses.
  • Potential Barrier and Solutions:
  • The courses should be after my work hours.
  • Courses are better online, as they need more time for study. Workshops or conferences could be on weekends, as they are not on work days.

Evidence of Accomplishment:

  • I will receive certificates for any of the courses or workshops.

Timeframe:

  • Six months from now (October 2025).

After completing this goal, what areas of your leadership skills will be enhanced?

  • Support and help children with behavioral problems to interact and socialize better with their peers.
  • Make the child feel more confident in the class.

Teach the children tools and techniques that help them regulate their emotions and behavior.

Goal 2: Continue to get more knowledge and practice in ECC.

Action Steps:

  • Attend the workshops offered by the agency.
  • Taking courses about the Reggio Emilia Approach.
  • Research for webinars, conferences, or workshops online.

Resources Needed:

  • Family support to look after family’s things when I am in class or workshops.
  • Ask colleagues if they have any reading material that may be useful in the courses or workshops.

Potential Barriers or Solutions:

  • Organize my time to attend the courses.
  • Consider the option to take the courses online.

Evidence of Accomplishment:

  • Certificates mentioning the completion of the course or workshop attended.

After completing this goal, what areas of your leadership skills will be enhanced?

  • Guide the children to their own learning experiences based on the children’s interests.
  • Create an inviting environment.
  • Create folders of documentation to share with parents.
  • Learning more about how to do better documentation and observation.
